Summary 

To support the Communications Department to plan, deliver and evaluate engaging and high-quality communications to its students and staff in support of the University strategy.

The role will support the Head of Internal Communications and the Student Communications Manager in the delivery of the University’s internal communications. The role assists with the management of communication channels, creates compelling content, and contributes to and implements communications planning.

What will you be doing?

Internal communications

  • Drafting copy for our student and staff-facing web pages, sourcing appropriate images, managing stakeholder approval and uploading to Typecase CMS
  • Drafting copy for our student email bulletins according to our content plan, along with appropriate images
  • Creating and publishing a variety of engaging content, including images and video, on appropriate social media channels, OneLan digital signage and PC screensavers

Press and media 

  • Helping to monitor local and national press for issues related to the University or university student life

Other communications

  • Contribute to communications planning and team meetings
  • You will from time to time be required to undertake other duties of a similar nature as reasonably required by your line manager. You are required to follow all University policies and procedures at all times and take account of University guidance

Essential skills / experience 

  • Experience creating written copy, video and graphics
  • Experience using a content management system and web analytics.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Team player
  • Flair to deliver creative communications solutions
  • High levels of personal commitment and an attention to detail
  • Ability to take the initiative and be proactive
