THE AGENCY:

We are a global communications agency built by and for the Modern Citizen. We wake up each morning inspired to make every conversation count, partnering with clients to grow their brands and positively impact culture.

We champion equity. We’re on a continuous journey to counterbalance inequalities big or small, corporate or cultural - starting first and foremost with our own Citizens. Sometimes we change perceptions with the work we do, other times we move the scale through the conversations we have, but we’re always actively pushing for fairness and the collective good.

We set the standard. We care about the work we do and take pride in our process. We want to lead by example and get noticed for what we’re doing. That excellence doesn’t just come through in the finished product for our clients, but also in the ways we work together to make it happen.

We do what’s right. We choose to make the right decisions over the comfortable ones. We will be true to ourselves and our teammates - if we believe there’s a better approach, we’re encouraged to explore alternative avenues. We trust ourselves and follow our instincts, because what’s right is always more important than what’s easy.

THE OPPORTUNITY :

Our internship programme is specifically designed to give interns exposure to various parts of the PR industry, covering both corporate and consumer communications. The role gives new joiners access to some of the world’s biggest consumer brands, as well as a knowledge in international finance and technology brands.

We work closely with our interns to ensure that they are given the opportunity to build new skills in a supportive environment, learning on the job training alongside a robust internal training programme and inclusion in the external training programme.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

The Intern is an important part of our team, providing support across a broad range of tasks including, but not limited to, administration, media relations, coverage monitoring and reporting, writing and research.

Our intern is a proactive and organised individual, who is excited by the prospect of learning new skills every day and is always curious and inquisitive about the tasks they are asked to complete. We ask interns to use organisational skills to help in running a smooth account, as well as starting to build their confidence and creativity on all things from delivering updates in team meetings to submitting ideas for new projects. The ability to manage time is critical - our Intern will have a full to do list and should work with teams to prioritise actions so that deadlines are consistently being met.

  1. Communication Skills: Communicates clearly. Demonstrates strong listening skills, and consistently communicates with team members to ensure briefs are understood. Has a can-do solutions focused attitude, and isn’t thrown off by a mistake - but rather sees it as an opportunity to learn. Is proactive in their attitude towards learning new skills that are crucial to their development in PR - this includes learning different pitch styles for journalists across the media landscape as well as direct media pitching on a daily basis. Writing is also a core skill in PR and the Intern will begin to be trained on how to write press releases and other copy, for example social posts. They will begin to take an active interest in the industry their clients exist within, becoming familiar with the influencers and media titles relevant to that sector, and the trends affecting it.

Throughout the internship, we offer an extensive training programme, including both internal and external training sessions. Topics covered include - but are not limited to - writing, social media management, influencer partnerships, project management, client services, financial acumen, and usage of industry tools such as Gorkana or Response Source. We actively encourage our team to take ownership of their career development and welcome new ideas for relevant training opportunities.
