About PPCR

Public Policy and Corporate Responsibility comprises Corporate Communications, Citizenship, Business Management, Group Brand, Insights, Sponsorship and Events, Strategic Policy, and Sustainability & ESG, with colleagues based in the UK, the US, and Asia.

Overall purpose of role

Working at the heart of our Public Policy and Corporate Responsibility (PPCR) function the intern will work to protect and enhance the company’s reputation to a variety of stakeholder audiences.  

During the internship, the role holder will learn valuable skills, working on proactive campaigns and live issues in real time. 

The role holder will rotate around teams including media relations, sustainability, internal communications, digital channels and government relations learning best practice from established industry experts.

Key issues could include: climate change and sustainability, diversity and inclusion, macroeconomic environment, technology and innovation, societal purpose, to name a few.  

Key Accountabilities

  • Support teams to develop and deliver campaigns, as well as support the team in handling reactive enquiries.
  • Work closely with the wider Corporate Communications teams, understanding how we develop Group-wide campaigns and how we maximise their reach to key audiences and stakeholders through different channels, ultimately in support of our strategic priorities.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with key business stakeholders.
  • Play an active part in the wider Corporate Communications teams and PPCR function by identifying and sharing best practices.
  • At the end of the internship, you will deliver a presentation to the PPCR leadership on a topical issue which will be discussed at the start of the internship. 

What skills or experience are essential for you to have: 

  • Must have an interest in pursuing a career in PR/Comms/Public Affairs.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • An interest in the news
  • Creativity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

Desirable skills: 

  • Experience in a similar position would be beneficial but not required.

Intellectual curiosity, enthusiastic, willing to get stuck in – we will expect the interns to contribute and help to deliver projects, from preparing for financial results reporting to the media as well colleagues, to social media activity. It is important that the candidate has an interest in pursing a career in corporate communication.
