In the last three years, planning has been on an amazing trajectory and is now consolidated at the heart of creative strategy in our London office.

As a Senior Planner you’ll partner with the Director of Insight & Strategy to explore how we take it to the next level whilst maintaining and growing our relationships with flagship clients and senior leaders across practices. 

This role comes at a time when the wider agency’s commitment to creative strategy (and planning within it) has been set globally, positioning London as a hugely valued partner and leader. At the same time, demand and opportunity for planning in our London teams is also at an all-time high and there is huge opportunity to build on this. 

Reporting into the Director, you will partner with our practice, new business and client leads to identify robust insights that inform overarching strategy development and creative concepts. You’ll champion the role of research, insight and strategy in delivering creative that stands out and stands true.

Collaborating closely with our Creative Directors and Research & Measurement teams, you’ll support a variety of communications briefs, from reputation management and brand marketing to public affairs across a variety of industry sectors.

Responsibilities: 

  • Existing clients (circa 40%): Providing strategic client counsel and advice on: putting insight at the heart of creative and strategy development, a sound planning approach, and measurement frameworks that allow FHF to demonstrate business change.
  • New business (circa. 60%) Supporting new business teams by developing research briefs to support new business opportunities; working with pitch leads to develop the insight and overarching strategy development process for responses; working with creative and supporting full integration of the entire creative process.
  • Working with the Director of Insight and Strategy to develop the role, reputation and response of planning to ensure that we’re continuing to grow as a team, as partners to the agency, as individuals and always taking our clients with us.
  • Providing formal and informal leadership, training and mentorship to support the planning apprentices and the next generation of talent that currently sit across our practices. 

About you:

  • Previous experience in an insight, strategy or planning role within a communications agency essential.
  • Able to build strong and effective relationships both internally and externally.
  • Solid research skills; ability to understand how to apply qualitative and quantitative learning.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills - analytical, creative and lateral.
  • Proven ability to develop insights that have led to reaching effective, measurable results for clients across sectors.
  • Be culturally ‘connected’ with an interest in observing, understanding and tapping into popular culture.
  • Be curious; always striving to understand ‘why’ audiences (B2B, B2C) do what they do and what levers we need to pull to change that.
  • Proven track record in new business development.
  • Be digitally savvy and know how to harness the power of social media to develop insight.
  • Strong written and presentation skills; be able to tell and sell a story and take colleagues on a journey with your work.
