Strategic Campaigns Advisor

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: Full time 35 hours per week

Salary: £48,747 - £51,783 per annum

Job overview

In the new post of Strategic Communications Advisor, you’ll lead major campaigns on council priorities, delivering excellent media relations, marketing, digital and other communications disciplines. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to the Leader, Executive and senior officers, working across different services to coordinate strategic narratives and maintain grip of issues.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Head of External Communications and Campaigns, you’ll be a senior member and manager in the team, developing and inspiring staff to deliver campaign work. You’ll draw on and collaborate with our specialist internal, digital, creative and engagement teams to create brilliant content and ensure your work is targeted and tested with the audiences it’s designed to reach.

You’ll come with proven experience of delivering first-class campaigns – whether you’re from a media, marketing, digital or public affairs background – and be an excellent writer and communicator yourself. You’ll know how to juggle competing priorities to tight deadlines, challenge internal dogma, and be used to managing the media. And crucially, you’ll be creative – understanding how to cut through the noise and get noticed, rather than rely on the same-old tactics.

Working for our organisation

The award-winning Communications and Campaigns team is key to achieving the council’s ambitions – telling the story of its priorities, campaigning on behalf of residents and businesses, and supporting the transformation of services for the people who use them.

You'll join a refreshed team recently redesigned to reflect the council’s mission and changing priorities – with strategic communications and engagement at the heart of its work.
