What will you be working on throughout the internship? 

Internal Communications is responsible for all pan- Group communications to the Group audience (58,000) colleagues, so we have a massive opportunity to engage the hearts and minds of colleagues in our new Purpose, strategy and culture.

On the back of our new CEO joining the bank, we’re helping to shape the new culture of the business to become a purpose-led business. Part of the role of the Internal Communications team is to support the CEO’s communication plans – not just written, but through face to face and hybrid events. As we embark on the next phase of our next chapter, we’ll start to weave in the use of behaviour science into our communications and engagement – so being on the internal communications team will provide the perfect opportunity to the candidate to help us to deliver something truly transformational for the Group.  

The candidate will support across a variety of areas of the team so they’ll have the opportunity to experience and to help to shape the communications across the Group, how our CEO talks to colleagues and to create content – be it written, video or events which amplifies our refreshed values and illustrate the progress the Group is making towards becoming fully purpose-led.        

The value of working in the internal communications is the variety and breadth the role can provide – which will leave the candidate with the skills to further develop a career in communications.  

 Skills or experience we are looking for: 

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

Desirable skills or experience: 

A willingness to work as part of a team. We’re a team of 15, so working together is a key part of the role.  Also a learning mindset - the candidate will be given plenty of opportunity to shadow and to learn from others, while undertaking more formal training aligned to professional external networks.

Most importantly, someone who loves to have fun!     

What qualities are we looking for in an intern?

A curious mindset and a flair for communications.  Internal communications is all about making the connections for people so the candidate will need to be a people – person.

The candidate will have a thirst to try new things and won’t be afraid to challenge why we do things in a certain way and offer new ideas.   

Finally, someone who wants to come and make a difference. Our last intern enjoyed creating stories, presenting video news summaries and supported on some important strategic communications, so it would be wonderful to be able to offer this opportunity to another of the Taylor Bennet Foundation interns.
