The Taylor Bennett Foundation (TBF) works to support ethnically diverse people into careers in public relations and communications. 

We do this through our flagship PR Training programme, internship and mentoring programmes. We are embarking on a period of growth, with a clear aim to change the lives of more young people with our existing programmes and new initiatives launching in 2022. Integral to our plans is a new role – Head of Programmes.

Head of Programmes

Employment type: Permanent
Hours: 9.00am – 5.30pm
Start Date: June 2022
Reporting to: Chief Executive
Direct reports: 2 Senior Programme Managers
Location: London, with some opportunity for home working and UK travel

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
Employer Pension Plan, combined minimum of 8 % contribution
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and organisation close down between Christmas and New Year.

The role
The Head of Programmes is a key part of developing and refining our strategic objectives for the next three years. The Head of Programmes will be part of TBF’s leadership team and will lead a small team who are dedicated to TBF’s charitable objectives and aims. The Head of Programmes  will have a clear understanding of how to deliver high quality education, training and employability programmes, including how to keep TBF’s current programmes fresh and exciting for young people and will also be excited about motivating a talented team to achieve their goals.

Key relationships
The Head of Programmes will build, establish and maintain good and professional working relationships with:

  • Sponsoring firms (currently Brunswick Group, FTI Consulting, Finsbury Glover Hering and HSBC) and key employer partners.
  • Universities, careers services, relevant societies and community organisations working with ethnically diverse people.

Main duties and responsibilities
As Head of Programmes you will be a key part of the leadership team,  providing strategic management support to the Chief Executive, managing a small dedicated team,  and leading on the delivery and development of the Foundations existing and new programmes.

Strategy and team development

  • Develop a creative programme strategy for the benefit of TBF’s beneficiaries.
  • Ensure TBF’s programmes remain relevant and exciting for the young people that take part.
  • Be accountable for the programmes KPIs and set up of new projects, ensuring Programme Managers are keeping clear records of project plans, progress and impact data.
  • Build a cohesive and engaged team that embraces TBF’s core values and has a culture committed to reflective learning, accountability and impact. This includes, regular supervision, appraisals and team meetings to monitor progress.


  • Deliver a varying range of TBF’s programmes to a high standard ensuring the programmes meets its objectives.
  • Lead on key partnerships linked to the programmes work and ensure that these relationships remain positive. This will include selected partners, education and community contacts that will include regular communications and quality reporting, to support delivery and funding objectives.
  • Lead on the impact and evaluation of TBF’s programmes and alongside the CEO, lead on the development of an annual Impact Report.
  • Develop and deliver appropriate and impactful events.


  • Represent TBF externally at events as required.
  • Play an active role in the leadership team with a particular focus on linking programme activities with the rest of the Foundation.
  • Uphold the Taylor Bennett Foundation’s values and behaviours and fostering good working relationships.
  • Deputise for the CEO where appropriate.

Budgetary and Human Resources

  • Keep track of programme budgets, to ensure expenditure and income targets are met.
  • Lead and develop the Programmes team, ensuring that staff are effectively recruited, have development opportunities, and are supported and supervised so they are able to deliver a high quality service and meet programme objectives.

As duties and responsibilities change, the job description will be reviewed and amended in consultation with the Head of Programmes. The postholder will carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the Chief Executive.

Person specification


  • Experience of programme and event delivery.
  • Experience of staff management.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to manage key stakeholder relationships
  • Knowledgeable in the challenges regarding the lack of ethnic diversity in the PR and Communications industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and deliver against set targets to agreed deadlines.

  • Proficient in  Microsoft Office and Google Workspace


  • Proficient in  Salesforce and Dropbox.
  • Demonstrable interest in issues surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion.
