Associate Consultants, Strategy & Communications

Teneo has a fantastic opportunity for two enthusiastic and energetic Associate Consultants looking to progress their career in Strategy & Communications.

About this role

An Associate Consultant (AC) at Teneo is the lynch-pin for account coordination and provides strong project and time management. They’re responsible for providing great insights and staying ahead of news and developments from key stakeholders. They ensure that all client reporting is completed and shared in a timely manner.

ACs help ensure new junior team members settle into their roles, demonstrating a collegiate approach to working with others. They work into and learn from our Consultants, Senior Consultants, Associate Directors and Managing Directors, with the structure of each team varying based on our scope and clients’ needs.

General responsibilities

  • Build good client relationships and provide strong coordination for client work and teams
  • Develop strong understanding of relevant client’s business and how to communicate with key stakeholder audiences: employees, customers, investors, media and communities
  • Understand the importance of managing deadlines and proactively communicating about progress against them
  • Are reliable and responsive with a positive attitude and willingness to get involved without waiting to be asked
  • Contribute to new business by developing own external network and seek opportunities for organic growth
  • Develop relationships with colleagues in London and globally
  • Stay well informed and share knowledge with teams and clients
  • Prepare for and respond to live issues, crises and other high stakes moments
  • Support clients to communicate their positions to business-critical stakeholders
  • Undertake or commission original research on client areas of interest

There may also be specific responsibilities relating to the centre of excellence you are working with, such as:

  • Co-ordinating large consumer or stakeholder research projects
  • Preparing presentations that summarise research and highlight insight for strategy outputs
  • Helping clients to shape and respond to government and regulatory policy proposals
  • Advising clients on political developments
  • Identifying and building relationships with clients’ target media
  • Generating creative ideas to bring campaigns to life via media and digital channels
  • Monitoring sell-side coverage, share price performance and valuation
  • Formulating ways of more effectively aggregating, manipulating and presenting data

 Skills and experience required

  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a relevant role
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Appetite for numeracy and analysis of company strategy and performance
  • Ability to build good client relationships
  • Ability to make valuable contributions in internal and external meetings
  • Good listening skills
  • High standard of attention to detail
  • Experience generating good quality research and presenting insights in a useable and engaging way
  • Motivated to build their own skills and knowledge and willingness to ask questions along the way
  • Enthusiasm about creativity and campaigning as well as managing reputational risk   
  • A positive, flexible and ambitious team player
  • Works well under pressure
