About Blakeney
Blakeney is a young, fast-growing strategic communications consultancy based in central London. We have clients across a number of sectors, including live entertainment, energy, and sports.

About the Role

Blakeney are looking for an ambitious intern, with a good understanding of UK politics and media, to work as an integral member of the team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail and desire to work in a fast-paced and exciting environment. The successful candidate intern will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of client work across a range of sectors.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Research and writing of briefing material, including reports, profiles, and letters.
  • Providing political, media, and social media monitoring for clients.
  • Assisting and planning for events, including liaison with venues and suppliers.
  • Comprehensive stakeholder mapping for large projects.
  • Attending brainstorms to develop strategic ideas for clients.
  • Providing support to other members of the team with the day-to-day delivery of communication projects and campaigns.
  • Working across a range of accounts, including a major international brand looking to enter the UK market for the first time.
  • Supporting new business development.

What we are looking for

You will need to be confident, intelligent, creative and energetic. We are especially looking for originality and personality. Therefore, the following are guidelines, not strict pre-requisites:

  • Have a degree from university.
  • Exceptional writing skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills – with experience of working to tight deadlines and under pressure.
  • Good working knowledge and experience in using social media and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • A friendly, fun demeanor - balanced with first-rate professionalism.
  • A willingness and ability to help shape our company and the way we do business.

What you can expect

  • Real investment in you. As a core team member, you will gain firsthand experience of all areas in communications. We’re a growing consultancy, but members of the team have worked at senior levels of very large corporates, consultancies, political parties and referendum campaigns. So, you’ll get to work closely with a very experienced (but very friendly) team and benefit from their contacts and expertise.
  • Exposure to clients across a range of industries, from live entertainment to energy, as well as the opportunity to be directly involved in high-level brainstorms and the day-to-day running of strategic communications campaigns.
  • Opportunities to network and build your contact base within the communications industry.
