Position in Company Structure

The Senior Account Executive (SAE) is a confident, proactive consultant who bridges delivery and leadership. You play a pivotal role in ensuring that campaigns run seamlessly, clients feel supported, and the wider team is motivated to deliver exceptional work. 

As an SAE, you’ll be able to take ownership of projects from start to finish, lead smaller accounts or workstreams, and become a trusted day-to-day contact for clients. You’ll also guide Junior and Account Executives, helping them grow in confidence and skill while continuing to sharpen your own strategic and commercial abilities.

Responsibilities:

Client & Project Management 

  • Act as a reliable day-to-day contact for clients, managing assigned workstreams and ensuring activity aligns with strategy. 
  • Oversee project planning, deadlines, and delivery quality — escalating challenges early and offering solutions. 
  • Manage status documents, trackers, and client reports with accuracy and consistency. 
  • Take responsibility for specific campaigns or projects under guidance from the Account Manager or Account Director. 
  • Lead smaller accounts or individual projects with minimal supervision. 

Strategic & Creative Contribution 

  • Translate client objectives into actionable campaign ideas and tactics. 
  • Develop and pitch creative ideas to clients and media, supported by data, insight, or industry trends. 
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement or innovation across accounts. 
  • Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to deliver integrated PR, social, and content campaigns. 

Media & Influencer Relations 

  • Maintain and expand relationships with key journalists, analysts, and industry influencers. 
  • Lead media sell-ins, confidently adapting angles for different audiences. 
  • Deliver measurable results in line with client KPIs. 
  • Monitor industry developments to identify opportunities for thought leadership, commentary, or newsjacking. 
  • Support the team in developing media strategies and planning proactive pitching cycles. 

Mentorship & Team Guidance 

  • Guide Junior and Account Executives, reviewing their work, providing feedback, and helping prioritise tasks. 
  • Foster collaboration, enthusiasm, and a learning mindset across the team. 
  • Act as a role model — dependable, constructive, and generous with knowledge. 
  • Lead portions of training or skills sessions where relevant to your expertise. 

Measurement & Reporting 

  • Take ownership of regular reporting and analysis, linking outcomes to client business goals. 
  • Apply and promote the use of AMEC-aligned frameworks across accounts. 
  • Support the creation of campaign evaluation reports and present insights in meetings. 
  • Help account leads interpret coverage and engagement metrics to demonstrate ROI. 

Commercial Awareness 

  • Monitor hours, budgets, and resource allocations to ensure efficient delivery. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements or savings. 
  • Understand client scopes and recognise when requests fall outside agreed terms. 
  • Support senior colleagues in the management of timesheets, POs, and project reconciliation. 

Professional Growth 

  • Pursue PRCA Continuous Professional Development (CPD) annually. 
  • Actively participate in training, mentoring, and internal learning initiatives. 
  • Demonstrate an appetite for responsibility — taking ownership of small projects or initiatives.

Relevant Experience & Skills — Person Specification

  • Typically 2–3 years’ experience in PR, communications, or marketing (agency experience preferred). 
  • Proven ability to lead elements of client work independently. 
  • Strong understanding of the media landscape and PR campaign mechanics. 
  • Excellent writing and communication skills; adaptable across formats. 
  • Organised, dependable, and proactive — able to prioritise effectively. 
  • Confident in pitching and presenting ideas internally and externally. 
  • Demonstrated mentoring or leadership ability with junior colleagues. 
  • Curious about business, technology, and emerging communications trends.
