About Beyond2050

We are the go-to agency for organisations seeking effective political, policy and communications support in the UK hydrogen and energy transition landscape.

Beyond2050 was founded in 2020 to serve the political, policy and communications advisory needs of the emerging UK hydrogen market.

As the market has evolved, so have we. We have grown into a cross-sector agency, covering the length and breadth of the hydrogen economy across heavy industry, transport, power, and manufacturing, as well as hydrogen derivatives and emerging energy technologies. In parallel, our team has also grown and with it our diverse expertise and industry-wide connections.

We’re proud to be award-winning. In 2024, we were awarded ‘Small Agency of the Year’ by our industry trade group, the PRCA. This year, the ‘Political Consultant of the Year’ award went to one of our team.

We are looking to recruit a proactive, ambitious and politically astute Associate Consultant to support the next stage of our growth.

The role

As an Associate Consultant, you will be an integral part of busy account teams, supporting client projects and delivering campaigns and products that advance their objectives. The successful candidate will have some prior professional experience, either through an internship or a period of work experience, and a keen interest in the UK’s political, policy and media landscape. An interest in energy and climate policy, emerging energy technologies, transport, power or manufacturing would be an advantage.

We take a nimble approach to delivery and your role is likely to be flexible, spanning a range of clients and projects. You will be supported to learn and develop your skills as a consultant, and you will have the opportunity to work directly with our founder and senior leaders.

Responsibilities:

● Produce high-quality internal and external material, often under tight deadlines and with competing priorities.

● Monitor political announcements and parliamentary activity, producing high-quality briefings and reports for clients.

● Support political engagement programmes, including creating stakeholder maps, contacting relevant offices and handling logistical arrangements.

● Develop biographical and policy briefings including conducting research to inform these documents.

● Support event management, including liaising with MPs’ offices, coordinating with the parliamentary events team and third-party suppliers as well as handling logistics.

● Contribute to Beyond2050’s corporate activity, including LinkedIn activity, website updates and client events.

● Build relationships with clients and wider stakeholders.

Skills and experience required:

● Some previous professional experience, ideally in a political, policy, media or communications setting, is essential. This can have been gained through an internship or period of work experience.

● A strong interest in UK politics, and a good understanding of the UK media environment.

● A keen attention to detail.

● The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

● Excellent time management and organisational skills, enabling you to work at pace and manage several competing priorities.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately with a range of stakeholders and clients.

● Proficiency in software such as Canva and Mailchimp.

● Committed to developing your skills as part of a wider supportive team environment.
