About the role
‘brightlights’ is a PR and communications trainee programme. It’s a permanent role in the firstlight team, where you’ll spend the first six months learning the ropes as an account assistant.
During your time on the programme, you’ll be assigned to clients and supporting teams with real work. You’ll get a full training programme combining on-the-job learning, internal sessions and external workshops to help you learn all the fundamental skills. At the end of the six-months, you’ll progress to an account executive.
You will be learning about, and starting to take responsibility for tasks including:
- Media relations – pitching stories to journalists
- Creating different types of written and visual assets for media and digital channels – from press releases to images for LinkedIn campaigns
- Keeping client admin up to date – e.g. meeting notes, status reports and media lists
- Liaising with clients
- Research for new business pitches

- Hybrid working: Yes, 1-2 days a week working from home

- A degree or a minimum of one year experience in the workplace
