Highgate is a strategic advisory firm that helps clients navigate high-stakes issues and contested environments. Highgate is looking for two interns to help execute and deliver strategies and campaigns for clients.
This role is ideal for a motivated, enthusiastic person looking to build their career in strategic advisory, dispute resolution, and communications.
As part of Highgate’s Internship Programme, you will gain practical skills through on-the-job learning and an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of your career interests. In addition, every intern has a dedicated mentor to support and guide them. Our interns are important members of the team, have full access to the senior team, are involved in company meetings and support with business development initiatives.
Key Tasks:
- Researching and compiling concise briefing notes in the areas of politics, business and international affairs for existing clients and new business opportunities.
- Drafting content including reports, blogs, briefings, social media posts, newsletters etc. that support client work.
- Researching and analysing media articles for clients, including daily media monitoring.
- Compiling stakeholder contact lists, including media, and writing pitches to journalists.
- Attending internal and client meetings, writing up summary notes.
- Support the drafting and brainstorming of communications and business strategies.
- Ad-hoc administrative tasks.
Key Requirements:
- Completed an undergraduate degree.
- Previous professional experience (typically one to two years) gained through internships, placements or employment in a related field.
- Excellent written communication skills, strong critical thinking and attention to detail.
- Ability to research and synthesise information within short time
- Excellent organisational skills, including managing and prioritising multiple tasks.
- Strong work ethic, curiosity, a desire to learn and the ability to work in teams and independently.
- A keen interest and a good understanding of politics and international affairs.
- Digital and foreign language skills are desirable, but not essential.
- Candidates must have the right to work in the UK. Employment is subject to successful reference checks.
