Candidates Programmes Training Training Introduction to the Taylor Bennett Foundation PR & Communications Training Programme The Taylor Bennett Foundation's award-winning PR Training Programme is a full-time training programme in Public Relations (PR) and Communications designed to equip participants with the relevant knowledge, insights and skills to work in the PR and communications industry. Our training programme is designed to directly address the need for greater ethnic diversity in the Public Relations (PR) and Communications industry and is open to graduates from a Black, Asian and minority ethnic background to apply. There are a number of training programmes that run each year, each programme has a different partner. Our current programme partners are: Brunswick Group, FGS Global, FTI Consulting and HSBC UK. What is the PR Training programme? The Taylor Bennett Foundation (TBF) PR Training programme is a paid, in-person, 7-week intensive PR and Communications training programme. The training programme will include: Workshops & insights into the range of Brunswick’s work across various sectors and practice groups. This includes (not limited to) sessions on: An Introduction to Financial Communications Investor Relations and M&A ESG & Sustainability Public Affairs Issues and Crisis Communications Employability sessions to help you plan your future in the communications industry Present campaigns and research topics to a variety of audiences Writing tasks – including analysis, reports as well as media summaries, press releases and blogs Masterclasses: weekly in-person masterclasses are held with a variety of agencies and in-house communication teams across a range of sectors such as Public Affairs, Financial Services, Consumer PR, Digital, Healthcare, ESG & the third sector! Training opportunities via the CIPR and PRCA The traineeships are paid. The training allowance is equivalent to your age and the National Minimum Wage + up to a Zone 1-3 travelcard in London. What will I gain from the training programme? Throughout the programme you will build an understanding of: The world of business, and how this intersects with politics, media and social issues The role of communications in enabling successful business The role of a corporate advisor - bringing knowledge, experience and an ‘outside view’ to clients; The training programme will help you to develop a number of professional skills, including: Research, analysis and critical thinking; How to write clearly, concisely and convincingly; How to use creative and visual tools to convey your message with impact; How to deliver advice in a meeting, on the phone, and via electronic communications; Message development - how to identify, shape and ‘sell’ your story; The value of listening, challenging constructively and responding to the views of others to work towards consensus and a clear way forward; How to manage your own reputation and develop your own professional style; What are we looking for? We are seeking potential over experience. We invite applications from those who can demonstrate: Curiosity: A genuine interest in how organizations can make an impact in the world, an awareness of events and current trends and a desire to understand the key issues organizations need to navigate today. Analytical and creative thinking: The ability to think strategically and creatively in order to cut through complex issues and solve problems. Openness: Willingness to collaborate, share knowledge and be a part of the team. Eligibility You must be from a Black, Asian and minority ethnic background. You must be a graduate who has graduated within the last three years. We accept applications from graduates who have studied any subject. You must be strongly interested in the work of Brunswick and pursuing a career in Public Relations (PR) and communications. You must be a British national or have an immigration status that allows you to be employed in the UK at the end of the programme. You must be able to commit to the full in-person programme, which will be based in London. Applications that do not meet our eligibility criteria will not be accepted. Eligible graduates will need to submit an application form by 9am on Monday 27th May, 2024. What happens next? Once an application form has been submitted, shortlisted applicants will be invited to take part in an initial telephone interview with the Foundation on the week commencing May 27th, 2024. Following this stage, shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a final stage, in-person assessment day which will take place on 14th June. Ahead of the assessment day, shortlisted candidates will be offered a virtual pre-assessment briefing on June 6th (10.00am-11.30am). Following the assessment day, candidates will be notified if they have been selected for the programme on June 17th. The seven-week programme will run from July 1st – 16th August 2024.
