Taylor Bennett Foundation appoints Kuldeep Mehmi as Vice Chair

The Taylor Bennett Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Vice Chair, Kuldeep Mehmi, one of its alumni. Kuldeep takes over from John Lehal, who has stood down from the board after three years and to whom we are very grateful for his time and commitment, John remains a tireless advocate for diversity and will remain a great supporter of the Foundation’s work.

Kuldeep, communications manager at Savills, brings the experience of having been through the Foundation’s flagship programme in 2012, a strong network in PR and communications and a reputation for his commitment to diversity and high professional standards.

Sarah Pinch, Chair of Taylor Bennett Foundation said:

“I am delighted that Kuldeep has been appointed as Vice Chair, he is already a very committed trustee and I look forward to watching him grow and develop in this new role.  His experience of the programme means he can speak with passion and commitment about the lived experience of a BAME young professional at a time when our industry is so woefully lacking in diversity.  This is a very exciting time for the Foundation, we have a major announcement to make in the coming weeks about a significant new partner and that, coupled with Kuldeep’s appointment and our search for two new trustees in November, places us on a firm footing for the future.  We have so much work to do and we are committed to continuing to make a difference to the lives of black, Asian and minority ethnic young people.”

Kuldeep Mehmi, Vice Chair of the Taylor Bennett Foundation said:

“I am honoured to be appointed Vice Chair of the Taylor Bennett Foundation. The Foundation has been crucial in supporting black, Asian and minority ethnic graduates entering the world of communications and in raising awareness of the very real barriers that still exist today, from recruitment through to progression into senior leadership. We know there is still considerable work to be done and I am looking forward to tackling these challenges in my new role and working with our CEO, Melissa Lawrence, to continue to inspire young minds and drive change in the communications industry.

“I would also like to thank John Lehal for his support and tireless efforts in championing diversity. He has been an inspiration and role model to me since we first met in 2012 while I was on the Taylor Bennett Foundations flagship training programme. I wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

The recruitment for trustees will go live later in October, we are seeking two trustees, one with a background in HR and one from project management, we would welcome applications from a BAME background.
